Jairo David likes to be called by his middle name, David. David is an energetic and curious six year old boy who loves to play outside. He also enjoys riding his bike and playing with Legos. He is friendly, empathetic, sweet, and likeable. David is also intelligent, persistent, and patient. When he knows what he wants, he will work until he gets it.

David enjoys adult attention and being with others. David responds well to positive encouragement and is eager to receive praise. He does best with structure and clearly defined expectations. He is capable of many self-care activities such as washing, dressing, oral care, and toileting. His first language is Spanish, though he is fluent in English. He is currently in Kindergarten.

Keyona is a loyal friend, and considers herself the leader in the group of her friends at school. Her desire to be a leader and her very specific likes and dislikes can occasionally put her at odds with her friends, and social expectations at school. She is very expressive with her likes/dislikes and is very comfortable sharing her opinions with peers and adults through words, facial expressions, and behaviors. She would benefit from parents who can introduce her to various social situations, broadening her palate, modeling appropriate interactions, and allowing her to explore some of the various possibilities of social relationships.

Keyona has a creative side. She has taught her worker how to sew a Bandaloom and has cooperatively crafted paper airplanes. She is planning advance Bandaloom projects this summer to challenge herself beyond bracelets and necklaces. She regularly engages in age appropriate boundary stretching, and is, more often than not, receptive to verbal redirection. She has strong emotions that leave her either extremely happy or angry depending on her mood.

Keyona has been waiting to find her adoptive family. She needs an adoptive parent who is energetic, passionate patient, enthusiastic and ready to tackle the ups and downs and growing paints of beginning a new life together. Adopting Keyona will come with challenges and adventures. It will also strengthen the family who is willing to provide this little girl with all that she deserves – and hopefully more!

Darius is a playful child and enjoys being goofy at times. He enjoys dance and music and you will also find him engaging in sports and playing with his blocks and ninja turtles. Darius is an independent little guy and cares for his basic needs. He can be very affectionate and often seeks out attention.

You can provide a stable and loving family structure that allows Darius to thrive. He will benefit from a home that has experience working with children that display behavioral problems and can provide an environment with patience, structure, routine and consistency. It is very important that the family allows for Darius to continue visits with his siblings as they share a close bond.

Grace is a warm, affectionate, and joyful child. At the same time, she struggles with the losses in her life and needs a family who can be patient and process her grief and the resulting challenges with her. A family who understands the effect trauma has on children would be an asset in Grace’s life. She would benefit from a family who nurtures her creative talents and uses praise and encouragement rather than punishment. Grace would do best in a family where there are no older male children in the home. Grace has expressed an interest in being adopted by an African American family who attends church, as her faith is a sense of support and comfort to her.
